Catching up!

The last few months I have been busy writing my first ever cosy crime. It’s set in the seaside resort of Portobello, Edinburgh and called The Business of Murder. It’s the first in the Edinburgh Ghost Tours Series featuring a mother and daughter, Clarissa and Alicia Boldworthy-Grant who run a pet shop together and their favourite local police officer, Angus Cameron. It’s early days as it is yet to go through the editing and publishing stage, but I will keep you posted!

On 8th June 2023 I took part remotely in the event at Leeds University to celebrate the life and work of the wonderful crime author, Peter Robinson, who sadly passed in 2022. We spoke about his influence on me as a writer and how I first met him in 2011 when I travelled to Estonia to enrol in a week long crime fiction course at the university of Tallinn, which was being taught by Peter. That visit to Estonia became the inspiration behind my 3rd Inspector Jim Carruthers book, Mark of the Devil.

On 12th May 2023 I appeared on the Cat and Mouse panel at Crimefest, Bristol alongside Antony Johnston, Daisy White, Alison Bruce and Harriet Crawley.

On 14th May 2023 I appeared on the Crime fiction set in small communities panel with Cathy Ace, Will Dean, Chris McDonald and Barry Forshaw.

The one crime writers’ festival I always try to attend is Crimefest. That takes place annually in Bristol in May. It’s small and friendly. I’m usually on at least one panel and it would be lovely to see you there.
